The valley of Valea Calda is one of the most virgin National Forest and also an important and unique habitat for some of the dominant species of the Greek fauna. Its core, together with Arkoudorema (bear’s stream) is an extremely protected region where evolution and succession is only up to mother nature. Daily program of ecotouring at Valea Calda, the land of the Brown bear, mushrooms and wild flowers of Pindos with full equipped 4×4.
- Meeting point is at 9.30 at the exit of Egnatia Odos just before Grevena from where we continue to Perivoli village (35km asphalt road).
- Boarding on full equipped 4x4 jeeps and departure with destination Valea Calda where we will arrive in about 1h and 15mins. Our first stop will take place at the entrance of the valleyfrom where we can enjoy the stanishing view of the whole area. We will observe the differences between the black and whiteskin pinetrees and also the old bonzai trees. The road starts its downhill route into the core of the valley. Leaving the 4x4 behind us and continue on foot to Arkoudorema (bear’s stream). We will spend about 1h and 15mins walking through forest and get informed about its fauna and flora. We will observe very rare red pine trees,venomous Bombina (frog species), the lizard Mesotriton and Pingumcula Carnivor (flower). We will also spent some time tree dredging and learn about the farmaceutical use of herbs and mushrooms.
